The average price of naengmyeon in Busan has reached 12,000 won for the first time as dining costs continue to rise.

According to data from the Korea Consumer Agency’s price information service, the average price of a bowl of naengmyeon in Busan rose 1.2% in July compared with the previous month.

It was the only major dining item tracked in Busan to record a month-on-month price increase during July.

Compared with the same month last year, however, naengmyeon prices have climbed 6.3%, making the popular summer dish one of the faster-rising restaurant meals in the city.

Rising ingredient and operating costs have contributed to higher restaurant prices nationwide.

This summer’s prolonged heat has also put additional pressure on food prices, particularly vegetables and other fresh ingredients.
