Picobarn Coffee: Coffee That’s Worth the Trip to Nampodong

Coffee in Korea is constantly evolving, but Picobarn stands out from the ever-growing crowd.

 

Located in Nampodong, Picobarn emphasizes a serious focus on quality and consistency of coffee. If you’re interested in excellent coffee with depth and aroma, then this is the place for you.

 

My favorite is the “Dark Matter” blend, which is nutty, dark and chocolatey. They also have the “Hundred Blossom” blend, which follows the current Korean trend in roasting and is a little more floral on the nose with subtle sweet and sour tones.

 

 

In addition to wonderful coffee, the pastries and snacks are fantastic. Pastries are made fresh daily and there is a lot of variety available too. My hot tip is the Gorgonzola croissant, which has a great salty-sweet balance.

 

Picobarn offers coffee variations such as Flat White, Espresso Macchiato that you might be used to from home. They also have some great non-coffee choices: signature Busan Milk Tea, Homemade Mango and Passionfruit, and seasonal drinks as well. 

 

Picobarn is located near the tourist information center and the Samsung service center, just down from Nampo subway exit 2, or directly outside Nampo underground shopping exit 14.  If you’re looking to make a day of it, you could see the Yeongdo Bridge open (daily at 2 pm); just behind Picobarn, grab a coffee, then hit Nampo for some shopping.
