Right outside Humphreys, Sogno serves up tasty Italian cuisine

One of my favorite meals is ramen. I dream of having a big bowl of noodles every day for every meal, and while usually it would be the soupy, deliciously rich Japanese noodles I seek, the other day I had a craving a different variety of noodles.

I’ve passed Sogno, an Italian restaurant near Camp Humphreys, many times. It looks more like someone’s home rather than a restaurant, but its exterior finally convinced me to depart from my usual noodle of choice and give some pasta a try.

I found plenty of parking at Sogno, which is a rarity amongst Pyeongtaek’s restaurants. Inside, the married couple who owns this spot decorated the interior in a minimalist style.

My friend and I ordered pasta carbonara for 14,000 won (about $12.66) and a pepperoni pizza for 12,000 won. Our food took a little time to arrive, but the wait was worth it. The carbonara was loaded with flavorful bacon, creamy alfredo sauce and generous amounts of shredded Parmigiano-Reggiano. And the pasta? Cooked to perfection! This, along with squid ink pasta, forms part of Sogno’s signature menu.

Our piping-hot pepperoni pizza arrived. The dough was just the right amount of thickness and toppings featured a good balance of cheese, sauce and ingredients. Before we knew it, we’d polished off both the pasta and pizza in a flash!

This place tends to get busy at peak mealtimes, but you definitely will not regret stopping in for a pasta fix. I may still dream of ramen for every meal, but Sogno was definitely a good place to take my taste buds on an Italian vacation.
