In Korea, Valentine’s Day and Christmas are two major romantic holidays. Unlike in the West, Christmas here isn’t a traditional family gathering holiday, but it has its own twist. Most couples spend the day at restaurants, amusement parks or busy streets enjoying holiday lights while families give gifts to their children. Valentine’s Day also has a unique tradition where women give chocolates and gifts to men. A month later, on March 14, called White Day, men reciprocate with sweets and presents.
