Busan’s signature Seomyeon Medical Street (SMS) Festival returns for its 13th year, bringing together healthcare, wellness, and culture under the theme “The Path Where Medical Tourism, Culture, and the Future Meet.”

The festival will be held for two days from October 24 to 25 along Seomyeon 1st Street, one of Busan’s most vibrant medical tourism districts.

Since its launch in 2011, the SMS Festival has grown into a major event highlighting Busan’s reputation as a global medical and wellness hub.

With over 380 medical institutions, beauty clinics, and wellness businesses participating, the festival offers visitors a unique chance to explore Busan’s advanced medical services while enjoying cultural and entertainment programs.

The opening ceremony kicks off on October 24 at 11 a.m. with a celebratory performance and parade.

Twelve medical institutions, including plastic surgery, dermatology, dental, and ophthalmology clinics, will offer on-site consultations and experience programs such as virtual plastic surgery simulations, skin diagnostics, obesity testing, eye pressure checks, and thyroid ultrasounds.

Visitors can also enjoy a wellness experience zone hosted by Busan Women’s University and Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, featuring AI skin analysis, traditional tea tastings, and health counseling. The “Visiting Medical Bus”, supported by Busan City, will provide free health screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, and body composition.

The festival’s international reach continues to grow, with buyers from Japan, China, Russia, Taiwan, and Singapore attending business meetings to strengthen cooperation in attracting foreign patients.

These guests will also participate in a “Medical Wellness Fam Tour,” exploring Busanjin-gu’s wellness destinations such as Jeonpo Café Street, Busan Citizens Park, and Bujeon Market.

Beyond healthcare, the streets will come alive with K-pop performances, busking, mime acts, and balloon shows.

The popular Stamp Tour encourages visitors to collect stamps from medical booths for a chance to win prizes, while photo booths and mini games add to the fun for all ages.

To promote the event globally, 14 international students from Myanmar, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, India, and the Dominican Republic have been appointed as global supporters, helping spread awareness of Busan’s growing medical tourism appeal.
