Luxury hotel suites will become booths of art galleries this weekend showcasing the attractions of Busan.

This week, the 18th Asian Hotel Art Fair (AHAF) will be held in Busan for the first time since its launch.

The organizer, Asia Artnet Committee, announced that ‘AHAF BUSAN 2019’ will be held at the Haeundae area, including Paradise Hotel Busan, from February 28 to March 3.

AHAF started in 2008 at the New Otani Hotel in Tokyo to promote the Asian art market. Since then, it has been traveling to Hong Kong in February and Seoul in August every year to visit the art fair.

This year, the venue changed from Hong Kong to Busan.

About 300 artists and about 2,000 pieces of works from more than 50 galleries at home and abroad are expected to participate.

There are six main art galleries in Korea participating including Park Young-duk Gallery, Tse Gallery, Geumsan Gallery, and six art galleries in Busan and the Gyeongnam area including Art Space, Gallery La, and Gallery Wu.

Also, overseas galleries from 10 countries including Japan, China, Taiwan, Sweden and the USA will hold booths.

Each gallery presents works in 71 rooms on 3 floors in the Paradise Hotel Busan.

The 11th, 12th, and 14th floor will be transformed and will include some special exhibitions as well as the complex cultural space Labela Chita, located in Cheongsapo, Haeundae, Busan.
