“Atelier Nodeul,” a new media-art platform beneath the southern end of Nodeul Island and the Hangang Bridge has opened, offering a striking new nighttime attraction along the river.
The space runs daily from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. through February 28, 2026.
Built on Thomas Heatherwick’s original “Sound Scape” concept for the Nodeul Global Art Island project, the venue transforms the bridge’s underside into a massive immersive gallery.
A 49-meter-wide wall and 49-meter-long floor projection create a dual-surface media façade, letting visitors experience large-scale digital art during evening strolls, weekend outings, or even while passing by on the Han River Bus.
The opening exhibition features three themed sections: Art, Companionship, and Attraction. Media artists Seo Hyo-jung, Yang Min-ha, and Jung Yoon-soo reinterpret the river, city, and movement through particle-based and algorithmic visuals in the “Media Scape” series.
The “Companionship” zone adds emotional messages and a playful animation of Seoul’s mascot Haechi touring the city. The “Hangang Nature” section acts as a digital nature guide, visualizing the island’s ecology through vibrant, atmospheric scenes.
A special highlight is the synchronized “Target Exhibition,” timed with the Han River Bus schedule so passengers can watch curated segments during their ride. An AI docent, accessible by QR code, helps visitors grasp the meaning and stories behind each work.
The city expects Atelier Nodeul to become a signature cultural spot, presenting a fresh blend of cityscape, nature, and art along the Han River, and offering visitors a new way to enjoy Seoul’s evening atmosphere.
