Busan will host a major international golf event this year, with the 2026 LIV Golf Korea tournament scheduled to take place from May 28 to May 31 at Busan Asiad Country Club.
Busan City announced that it has secured the right to host the Korean stop of the global LIV Golf series, which features many of the world’s top professional golfers.
The league, launched in 2022 and backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, is known for attracting elite players with large prize pools.
The Busan tournament will be part of the 2026 LIV Golf season, which will include 14 events across 10 countries in North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
The tour’s total prize money is expected to reach approximately $420 million, with about $30 million awarded at each event.
Several top-ranked players are expected to participate, including international stars such as Jon Rahm and Joaquin Niemann. The Korean team is expected to feature players including An Byeong-hun, Danny Lee, Song Young-han, and Kim Min-kyu.
The LIV Golf Korea event was first held in 2025 at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in Incheon. Following discussions with organizers, Busan was selected as the host city for the 2026 edition.
Unlike traditional professional golf tournaments, LIV Golf combines sports with entertainment elements, including live performances and festival-style events designed to attract younger audiences. Previous tournaments have featured appearances by well-known artists alongside the competition.
City officials expect the event to attract international visitors and generate economic benefits for the region through increased spending on accommodation, food, transportation, and shopping.
The tournament is also expected to raise Busan’s global profile, as LIV Golf events are broadcast in more than 200 countries and regions worldwide, reaching hundreds of millions of households.
