Baseball fans in Busan will soon have a new place to play, train, and learn about the sport as Gijang County has opened what it says is Korea’s first dedicated baseball experience center.
The Ilgwang Baseball Experience Center and Indoor Baseball Training Facility officially opened at the Gijang Baseball Theme Park in Ilgwang-eup on June 23.
Local officials, representatives from the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), and members of the regional baseball community attended the opening ceremony.
The new complex combines an interactive baseball attraction with a large-scale indoor training facility under one roof.
The four-story building covers more than 7,500 square meters, with the indoor practice facility located on the first floor and the experience center occupying the second and third floors.
Visitors to the experience center can try a variety of baseball activities, including pitching, batting, fielding, and base running.
Digital media installations and photo zones have also been incorporated to create an interactive environment aimed at both casual visitors and baseball enthusiasts.
The indoor training facility features a full-sized practice area measuring 50 meters by 50 meters with a ceiling height of 28 meters.
Additional facilities include pitching practice zones, fitness facilities, and shower rooms, providing a year-round training environment for players.
Gijang County plans to begin a trial operation on July 2, with full operations scheduled to start on July 14.
Admission will be free during the trial period before a small usage fee is introduced.
The project was built with an investment of approximately 29 billion won from county funds. Construction began in September 2023 and was completed last year.
