Spring returns to Busan with the 9th Gangseo Nakdonggang 30-ri Cherry Blossom Festival, set to take place from April 3 to 5 at Daejeo Ecological Park. Stretching along the Nakdong River, the festival combines large-scale performances, cultural programs, and hands-on activities against one of the city’s longest cherry blossom routes.
A Full Three-Day Lineup of Performances
The festival opens on April 3 with a kickoff concert featuring performances from popular trot singers, setting the tone for the weekend.
On April 4, the atmosphere shifts into evening with the “Cherry Blossom Night Concert,” combining live bands and spring-themed performances.
The final day, April 5, centers around audience participation with a public singing contest followed by a DJ-led closing show, bringing a more energetic end to the event.
Throughout the three days, visitors can also catch busking stages, a choir festival, youth K-pop dance competitions, and smaller cultural performances spread across the venue.
Night Views, Lights, and Spring Atmosphere
One of the highlights this year is the expanded night program. A cherry blossom light show and illuminated walking paths will run alongside the river, creating a different experience after sunset.
Photo zones and themed installations are set up across the park, making the festival as much about atmosphere and visuals as it is about scheduled events.
Hands-On Programs and Family Activities
Beyond performances, the festival places strong emphasis on participation. Visitors can join a range of hands-on experiences including:
Flower tea classes
Singing bowl yoga sessions
Kite flying activities for families
Cultural workshops and small group programs
These are designed to encourage longer stays rather than quick visits, especially for families and groups.
Food Zones and Local Market Feel
Food is a major part of the festival layout, with food trucks, local vendors, and temporary stalls operating throughout the event. A wide mix of street food and casual dining options will be available, turning parts of the park into an open-air dining space during peak hours.
Walking the 12km Cherry Blossom Route
The festival’s main setting remains its biggest draw. Around 2,000 cherry blossom trees line a 12 km stretch from the Daejeo floodgates to the area near Myeongji Market. Visitors can walk or cycle sections of the route, with many choosing to move between quieter and busier zones throughout the day.
Getting There and On-Site Access
To manage large crowds, organizers will operate free shuttle buses between Myeongji Transfer Center and the park entrance.
April 3: 2 p.m. – 8 p.m.
April 4–5: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Interval: approximately every 20 minutes
Safety staff will be deployed across the venue and main access points, with crowd control measures in place throughout the festival.
With its mix of performances, night views, and interactive programs, the Gangseo Nakdonggang Cherry Blossom Festival continues to evolve from a simple flower-viewing event into a multi-day spring experience built around staying, exploring, and participating.
