Classical Busan has announced the 2026 curated performance lineup for Busan Concert Hall, continuing to expand its programming following the venue’s opening last June as the city’s first dedicated classical music hall.
Since opening, the hall has welcomed more than 120,000 visitors.
A major highlight of the season will be the first anniversary festival, scheduled for July 3 to 8.
During the festival, Artistic Director Myung-Whun Chung will lead the Asia Philharmonic Orchestra in a residency featuring cornerstone works including Mahler’s Symphony No. 5, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 “Choral,” and Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World.” The program will also include open rehearsals with local music students.
The World Star Series will bring internationally recognized performers to the stage, beginning with violinist Inmo Yang and the Mozarteum Orchestra on March 14, followed by cellist Sung-Won Yang’s Trio Owon recital on April 10. Pianists Yunchan Lim and Seong-Jin Cho are also scheduled to appear later in the season alongside visiting orchestras.
Chamber and Duo performances will feature collaborations between leading Korean musicians and international partners, while the Opera Series will include a free outdoor staging of Carmen at the North Port landmark site in July and a concert version of Verdi’s Otello in October.
Educational and introductory programs will continue through the “1,000-won Classic” concerts and the popular “Hello Series,” aimed at making classical music more accessible to new audiences.
Tickets for select spring performances will be available through the Classical Busan website.
