Busan will once again start its summer beach season early, with two of its most popular destinations opening ahead of the traditional July schedule.

According to city officials, Haeundae Beach and Songjeong Beach will open on June 26. Haeundae will remain open until September 15, while Songjeong will operate through August 31, continuing last year’s extended season.

The city’s other major beaches—Gwangalli Beach, Dadaepo Beach, Songdo Beach, Ilgwang Beach, and Imrang Beach—will follow the standard schedule, opening from July 1 to August 31.

The earlier opening reflects ongoing adjustments to warmer weather and longer summers. Officials say the staggered schedule helps manage peak-season crowds while giving visitors more flexibility.

To improve safety, Haeundae Beach will also introduce a new on-site emergency treatment center to respond to incidents such as jellyfish stings and minor injuries.

While South Korea’s ‘Beach Utilization and Management Act’ allows year-round beach access, full safety infrastructure, such as buoys, watchtowers, and lifeguards, has traditionally only been provided during the summer season.
