Busan is expanding its citywide “Fair Accommodation Challenge” ahead of the BTS World Tour Arirang in Busan concerts on June 12 and 13, as local organizations step in to help address concerns over rising hotel prices during the event period.

The initiative was launched in response to ongoing complaints about excessive accommodation costs and aims to promote fair tourism practices while improving Busan’s image as a global travel destination.

Following early participation from Buddhist temples including Beomeosa Temple, universities, churches, public institutions and private facilities across the region have now joined the campaign by offering free or reasonably priced lodging for domestic and international visitors.

Participating universities include Pusan National University, Pukyong National University and Kosin University, which will provide dormitories and guest rooms during the concert weekend.

Christian churches including Suyeongro Church, Bujeon Church and several others will also open accommodations, while the Catholic community plans to provide lodging at the Pureun Tree Education Center.

Additional facilities joining the campaign include the Korea Railroad Human Resources Development Institute in nearby Yangsan and Jobang Haesutang in Busanjin-gu, which plans to offer free overnight stays for up to 90 visitors each night.

Several hotels, including Paradise Hotel Busan and Fairfield by Marriott Busan Songdo Beach, also said canceled rooms would be resold at standard rates rather than inflated prices.

Busan officials said accommodation applications and reservation details will be announced through the city’s official tourism website, Visit Busan. The city will also provide on-site support and administrative assistance throughout the event period to help ensure visitor safety and convenience.
