Busan has secured national recognition for three of its signature festivals, with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism selecting the Busan International Rock Festival, Dongnae Eupseong History Festival, and Gwangalli Eobang Festival as official Culture and Tourism Festivals for 2026–2027.
The ministry evaluated festivals nationwide based on content quality, visitor satisfaction, and local economic impact, ultimately choosing 27 events.
Busan’s inclusion across music, history, and maritime culture highlights the city’s breadth as a leading cultural tourism destination.
This year, the Busan International Rock Festival and the Dongnae Eupseong History Festival were newly designated, while the Gwangalli Eobang Festival earned its eighth consecutive selection.
Each festival showcases a different facet of Busan’s identity, from large scale live music and historical reenactments to hands on experiences rooted in traditional fishing culture along Gwangalli Beach.
Selected festivals will receive annual national funding, along with support for international promotion, tourism product development, and visitor services.
