Suyeong District will host a special Lunar New Year edition of the Gwangalli M Drone Light Show on February 14 at 8 p.m. along Gwangalli Beach.
The one-night performance will be held under the theme “A New Year Filled with Good Fortune.”
The show will feature a large-scale display using approximately 2,500 drones.
Visual sequences will include traditional Korean symbols associated with warding off bad luck and welcoming prosperity, such as jangseung totems, magpies symbolizing good news, and bokjumeoni pouches representing blessings.
The program will also incorporate imagery reflecting the Year of the Red Horse and broader elements of Korean cultural heritage.
Organizers expect around 50,000 spectators and have implemented traffic controls along parts of Gwangalli Beach Road from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. to secure viewing space.
A total of 481 personnel from local government, police, and related agencies will be deployed to manage crowds and ensure safety during the event.
Additional precautions include coordination with major telecom providers to temporarily suspend public and carrier Wi-Fi services near the beach from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. to improve drone operation stability.
Backup systems involving up to 2,000 reserve drones have also been prepared.
Multilingual announcements in six languages, including English, Chinese, and Japanese, will be provided to assist the growing number of international visitors expected to attend.
