As the temperatures drop, Busan’s winter calendar lights up—literally. From coastal illuminations to downtown holiday villages, the city transforms into a glowing playground of festivals perfect for evening strolls, warm drinks, and festive photo ops.

Here’s a look at some of the highlights brightening the season.

Underway

PNU University Road Light Street Re:naissance @ PNU University Road area

Underway since late October, the PNU University area streets come alive with light from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily through January 18.

2025 Seo-gu Light of Hope @ Songdo Beach, Gudeok Stadium, Chungmu Intersection

Running from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily, the streets of Seo-gu are transformed into an array of light sculptures. The event runs through March 14 next year.

Millak Luce Festa @ Millak Waterside Park

Running through January 31, the second edition of the Millak Luce Festa brings shimmering installations to the waterfront along Suyeong-gu’s Millak-dong. Expect a mix of seaside views and wintery ambience, ideal for those who like their lights with a breeze off the waves.

Seomyeon Light Festival @ Seomyeon 1st Street

Through February 14, downtown Seomyeon turns into a neon corridor with eight separate events unfolding over several weeks. The area’s streets and alleyways glow with themed displays, adding extra energy to one of Busan’s busiest nightlife districts.

Yeonje Obang Light Street @ Yeonje-gu

Also running until February 14, this festival centers on six themed sections, each representing a symbolic color tied to Yeonje’s identity. It’s a compact but visually striking stroll perfect for families and casual winter wanderers.

2025 Busan Christmas Market @ Lotte Department Store Seomyeon

A Christmas market with all kinds of goodies are up for sale at the Signature Pop-up, B1, Lotte Department Store Busan Main Branch in Seomyeon through December 28.

Village d’Ananti ‘Tree Forest’ @ Ananti Village, Gijang

The village features 100 snow-covered Christmas trees ranging in height from 4 to 10 meters, decorated with 3,000 lights and festive ornaments, and is set to operate until the year’s end in Gijang.

Christmas Village Busan 2025 @ Busan Cinema Center

From November 27 to December 25, the Cinema Center transforms into a seasonal pop-up village complete with holiday music, food zones, and cozy winter decor. It operates Thursdays through Sundays early in the season, then daily beginning December 22 for the final countdown to Christmas.

12th Haeundae Light Festival — STELLAR HAEUNDAE

Perhaps Busan’s most iconic winter light event, the Haeundae Light Festival returns from November 29 to January 18. Gunam-ro, Haeundae Square, and the beachfront come to life every night from 6 pm to 11 pm, offering everything from giant tunnels of light to constellation-themed displays.

Gwangbok-ro Winter Light Tree Festival @ Nampodong

From December 5 to February 22, colorful tree installations brighten the historic shopping streets of Gwangbok-ro and Gwangbokjungang-ro in Jung-gu. With lights switched on from 5:30 pm to 10 pm, it’s a perfect add-on to evening shopping or a stop before hitting nearby cafes.

Oncheoncheon Light Festival @ Dongnae

The 3rd annual festival lights up the Lower Exit 4 of Dongnae Station on the subway to the Big Tree Shelter area from December 19 to through February 1st from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
