The 22nd Busan International Dance Festival (BIDF) will take place from June 2 to 7 at venues across Busan, including the Busan Cinema Center, Haeundae Beach, Busan Cultural Center and Busan Station.

This year’s festival will feature more than 60 performances by 44 dance companies from 13 countries, including Korea, Canada, France, Denmark, Mongolia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Argentina, Taiwan, Spain, Japan, Lithuania and Estonia.

The official opening ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. on June 5 at the Busan Cinema Center. The opening program will feature two acclaimed works from Quebec, Canada: Être de Bois by choreographer Chantal Caron and Burn Baby, Burn by Guillaume Côté. The performances explore themes of nature, humanity and contemporary challenges through contemporary dance and ballet.

A series of official invited performances will also be presented on a special stage at Haeundae Beach on June 6 and 7. Additional street performances will take place at Haeundae’s Gunam-ro and Busan Station, bringing international artists directly into public spaces.

New this year is the BIDF Fringe program, an open platform designed to showcase creative works by both emerging and established choreographers. The festival will also feature dance competitions, artist exchanges, educational programs and collaborative projects marking the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France.

Ticketed performances at the Busan Cinema Center can be reserved through NOL Interpark Ticket and the Busan Cinema Center website.

All outdoor performances at Haeundae Beach and public spaces are free to attend.
