The 2025 Yeongho-Nam Traditional Market Expo will take place from October 31 to November 2 at Dasom Plaza in Busan Citizens Park, celebrating the charm and cultural value of Korea’s traditional markets.
Co-hosted by Busan and South Jeolla Province, the event will bring together merchants and visitors from across the country in a vibrant, nationwide market festival.
A total of 46 businesses from 39 markets across 11 cities and provinces will operate around 80 booths, offering an array of local specialties and traditional products.
Busan’s signature markets such as Dongnae and Gupo will be featured alongside well-known markets from other regions, including Yeonggwang Gulbigol Market and Seoul’s Gwangjang Market.
Visitors can shop for items such as hanbok, salted seafood, dried fish, and local delicacies like Yeonggwang gulbi, Ginseng from Punggi, and Gwangcheon seaweed all in one place.
Adding to the excitement, a food fair will run alongside the main exhibition, offering specialties like Gupo Market’s noodles and buchujeon, Bujeon Market’s jokbal and barbecue, and Gwangjang Market’s classic bindaetteok.
Interactive programs will also engage visitors, including “Challenge! Be a Show Host,” the “Household King Quiz Show,” and a “Singing Stage.”
The opening ceremony on October 31 at 3 p.m. will feature a lively street parade by the Gupo Market pungmul troupe and a tightrope performance by the Jeollanam-do Market Wanderers.
Awards will also be presented to merchants who have contributed to market revitalization.
The event will close on November 2 with the 3rd Busan Merchants’ Day, bringing together over 2,000 merchants for a ceremony, workshops, and performances aimed at strengthening unity and pride among local traders.
