The Busan Modern & Contemporary History Museum is hosting a vault-themed exhibition, “Vault, Connected 2025–2026,” through March 2.

The exhibition takes place inside the museum’s basement vault spaces, a remnant of the building’s former life as the Bank of Korea’s Busan headquarters, offering a guided tour through rooms once used to store banknotes, coins, and gold bars.

Each vault space has been transformed into an individual exhibition room. The first vault, where 10,000 won banknotes were kept, showcases two emerging local artists selected through the “Connected” art program, highlighting the energy of Busan’s young creative scene.

The second vault features archival images and gold-themed contemporary artworks, reflecting on the symbolism of value.

The third vault focuses on upcycling art, presenting discarded signs and materials from the old bank building’s renovation reimagined into new pieces.

The fourth vault preserves the space closest to its original form and offers a video tour of the building’s history and architectural character.

The museum will also display the original interior signboard of the former Bank of Korea Busan Branch, publicly shown for one day on December 9 before being replaced by a reproduction for long-term exhibition.

A joint event with the Bank of Korea, the “Find the 007 Case” experience, invites visitors to participate through social media for a chance to receive a small keepsake made from shredded banknotes.

More information is available through the museum’s website.
