Catch some winter fun on the hills near Camp Humphreys

For many who grew up in regions with winter snowfalls, sledding is one of the favorite seasonal pastimes especially after a fresh batch of snow covers area parks and grassy knolls. In Korea, you can relive your childhood memories or share it with your family without leaving Pyeongtaek.  Many of the city’s parks and youth centers open to the public with sledding and a variety of other winter activities at low prices for the entire family to enjoy.

Jinwicheon Recreation Area

The Jinwicheon Recreation Area is only about a 40-minute drive from Camp Humphreys and you’ll find it on edge of Jinwicheon stream. This popular park is a weekend gateway for many residents in Pyeongtaek as it offers many fun activities in correlation to the season.

In the summer, the stream draws dozens of paddlers and kayakers, while the swimming pool is teeming with children. And despite the weather conditions, hop on a trail bike and pedal alongside the railroad tracks or try out camping at their campsite for a change of pace and scenery.

In the winter, Jinwicheon converts into a wonderland with different types of sledding hills perfect for children and grownups. Another great way to enjoy the snow is ice fishing (5,000 won or about $4.30).
