Couples planning a wedding in Korea may be able to save millions of won by choosing the right season, according to a new analysis by the Korea Consumer Agency.

The agency reviewed wedding-related contract prices—including venue rental, catering, studio photography, dresses, and makeup—across 14 regions between April 2025 and June 2026. The findings showed that April was the most expensive month to get married, with an average total cost of 22.38 million won, while January was the least expensive at 19.13 million won.

Overall, weddings held during the traditional peak seasons of March to June and September to December averaged 21.56 million won, compared with 19.54 million won during the off-season months of January, February, July, and August.

Venue rental and catering accounted for much of the price difference. During peak season, the median cost for these services was 16.1 million won, compared with 12.5 million won during the off-season.

The report also found that more couples are choosing smaller wedding packages to reduce costs.

The share of contracts including only dress and makeup services increased from 11.0% in April 2025 to 19.2% in June 2026.

The median price for a dress-and-makeup package was 1.6 million won, about 1.32 million won less than packages that also included studio photography.

A separate survey of wedding businesses conducted in April also found significant price differences between peak and off-peak seasons, as well as between weekday and weekend ceremonies.

During peak-season weekends, 32.8% of venues said they required additional services, such as fresh floral decorations and ceremony assistants, adding further costs for couples.
