Seoul will once again transform part of Cheonggyecheon Stream into a city escape from the summer heat with the return of the 2026 Cheonggyecheon Water Festival, running from July 31 to August 9.

The event takes place daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. along a 120-meter stretch between Cheonggye Falls and Gwangtonggyo Bridge, where visitors can sit, relax, and cool their feet in the stream. Temporary closures may occur during heavy rain.

After attracting more than 50,000 visitors in its debut last year, this year’s festival will feature expanded seating, shaded rest areas, and a free aqua shoe rental service, allowing both residents and tourists to join without bringing their own footwear.

Visitors can also participate in a photo contest by submitting pictures of their visit through a QR code available on-site for a chance to win prizes.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government said additional safety and hygiene measures have been introduced this year, including streambed cleaning before and during the event, as well as on-site staff, emergency medical personnel, and volunteers to help ensure a safe experience for visitors.
