Chilam Library in Gimhae will hold its reopening ceremony on December 6 at the library’s performance hall, marking its transformation into a major cultural venue for the city’s eastern district.

The ceremony will begin with a pre-performance by the Gimhae Gayageum Ensemble, followed by a project report, appreciation plaques, and congratulatory remarks. Attendees will then tour the newly renovated library facilities.

A range of public programs will accompany the event, including a K-pop dance and percussion performance, interactive activities such as face painting and caricature drawing under the theme “Draw Myself, Color Myself,” and a guest lecture by author Lee Ki-ho.

Over the past year, Chilam Library has undergone a green remodeling project and spatial improvement plan, reshaping it into an eco-friendly and user-focused reading environment.

As part of the renewal, the city has launched the new Gimhae Book Culture Center, a specialized space featuring a studio, creative rooms for writers, and a publishing start-up support office, strengthening the library’s role as a center for creation and literary culture.
