Seoul Grand Park is preparing a full day of family programming on May 5 as it marks Children’s Day with special performances, animal-themed hands-on activities, and free admission to Seoul Zoo for children under 13 and seniors aged 65 and older.
The annual celebration, titled “Together at Grand Park,” transforms the zoo grounds into a large interactive festival space designed around wildlife, ecology, and family participation.
From noon to 5 p.m., visitors can take part in a series of animal-inspired experience booths near the main gate plaza, including endangered animal face painting, animal mask making, four-cut family photo booths, keyring crafts, and customized souvenir decorating. Mascot parades and roaming clowns will also move through the zoo throughout the day.
Live stage programming runs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the outdoor stage near the north gate pond, featuring a magic balloon show, an environmental children’s musical titled Dear Earth, an educational science talk, and a popera performance built around popular animation songs.
The event continues into the afternoon with family mini-games, talent participation, and traditional play activities, giving parents and children a chance to join together rather than simply watch performances.
All Children’s Day festival programs are free to join, although standard zoo admission still applies for visitors aged 13 to 64.
With large crowds expected, park officials are advising visitors to use public transportation and arrive early for first-come participation booths.
