A seaside village in Tongyeong is entering its most colorful period of the year as poppy flowers begin to fully bloom across a large coastal field.

In Daegopo village in Tongyeong, a 20,000-square-meter flower field is now covered in bright red poppies, with blooms expected to continue through mid-June.

The flowers, planted last November, have emerged after winter, transforming the area into a seasonal attraction.

Stretching from the village entrance up to the hillside, the flower field overlooks the waters around Hansan Island, creating a landscape that combines ocean views with vibrant spring colors. Locals say early mornings, when mist clears and sunlight spreads across the flowers, offer the most striking scenery.

The village has been gradually developing into a “four-season flower destination,” introducing different plantings each year. Following sunflowers, cosmos and barley fields in recent years, this spring’s poppies mark the latest stage of that effort.

Additional landscaping, including lavender, hydrangeas and evergreen shrubs, has been added around the site, while a newly completed 20-meter mural at the village entrance adds another visual highlight for visitors.
