A sharp cold wave has pushed Busan, Ulsan, and the Gyeongnam region into early winter conditions.
According to the Busan Meteorological Administration, the morning lows on the 19th are forecast to range from –2°C to 3°C, which is 1–4 degrees below seasonal averages, while daytime highs are expected to reach only 10–12°C, also 2–5 degrees lower than usual.
Cold air moving in from the north caused temperatures on the morning of the 18th to plunge by 3–10 degrees compared to the previous day.
With strong winds continuing, the wind chill is expected to feel even colder. Gusts may reach around 15 meters per second, adding to the intensity of the cold.
Overall, the region is expected to remain on the colder side, signaling a steady shift into early winter.
In response to the early cold, the City of Busan began distributing winter supplies to vulnerable residents starting on the 18th.
By next month, the city plans to use 60 million won from its disaster relief fund to provide winter blankets, thermal clothing, mats, and insulated vests to 3,477 people across the city who may be at greater risk during cold weather.
