Representative fall attraction in Seoul, Seokchonhosu Lake

Located near Korea’s popular theme park Lotte World, Seokchonhosu Lake is one of the most representative fall foliage attractions in Seoul. The lake is encircled by a promenade with trees that boast magnificent autumn colors. You can also take in the view of Lotte World Tower, the highest skyscraper in Korea, while strolling around the lake.

Haneul Park is a remote place to take pleasure in nature by the Hangang River. The area of Haneul Park was formerly a landfill which was transformed into a park to revive the natural ecosystem by the Hangang River. Autumn’s supreme beauty, Hwadam Botanic Garden in Gwangju

Hwadam Botanic Garden is an eco-arboretum located by the mountains in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do. The forest was designed to preserve the environment as much as possible in consideration with the surrounding geographical features, offering the opportunity to find pleasure in nature. The forest has a gently sloping deck that follows the forest walking path for the comfort of one’s feet. Trees of over 400 species change in color from golden yellow to shades of red, creating a majestic scene. Chrysanthemums and other autumn flowers are a colorful addition to the serene beauty.

The latest trending place in Korea is the hackberry tree that appeared in the Netflix hit drama series “Extraordinary Attorney Woo (2022).” Dubbed “Woo Yeong-woo Hackberry Tree” after the drama, the tree can be found sitting atop a hill in a small town called Dongbu Village in Changwon. The tree’s vibrant green leaves in summer change to golden yellow in fall.

Walk on a yellow carpet, Ginkgo Road in Asan

Follow the Gokgyocheon Stream in Asan and you’ll soon meet a 2-kilometer stretch of road lined by hundreds of ginkgo trees on both sides. These ginkgo trees create a tunnel to provide shade in the summer, and turn golden yellow in fall. Visit around the time leaves start to fall and a carpet of bright yellow will spread out right before your feet.

A hyanggyo refers to educational institutions that taught the principles and values of Confucianism in the Joseon dynasty. Find peace in green even in fall, Taehwagang National Park in Ulsan

Taehwagang National Park comprises an area of 835,452 ㎡, formed around the Taehwagang River that passes through the central region of Ulsan. The park consists of gardens that focus on themes like ecology, bamboo trees, seasonal beauty, and the Rose of Sharon. In fall, autumn flowers like chrysanthemum, cosmos, and pink muhly decorate the floral garden. The main highlight of the park is the Simni Bamboo Forest. Udo Garden located near Sanho Beach is the rising fall destination thanks to the lovely pink waves that create a fascinating scene with the emerald waters and Jeju oreum (parasitic cones) hill tops in the background. The scenery and the atmosphere at Udo Island have charms of their own that are unique compared to the mainland.

Known as the “kingdom of oreums,” Jeju has oreums (parasitic cones in Jeju dialect) scattered throughout the island. Among the hundreds of oreums that dot the island, Saebyeoloreum Parasitic Cone is a popular fall attraction for its silver grass field. The cone hill sways in colors of golden hue, while the foothills are occupied by pink muhly. The transition from gold to pink is quite a sight to behold.
