It’s blueberry season! Looking for a local, pick-your-own blueberry farm in Pyeongtaek? There is no need to go far to get in on the fun.

About a five-minute drive out of Camp Humphreys’ Dongchangri-gate, check out Berry Good Farm (베리굿팜). This family-run farm near Paengseong Bridge opened last May and offers delicious and fresh blueberries.

Mrs. Choi Won-jin and Mr. Lee Yong-Hak are the co-owners of the farm. Choi is a former university professor who now handles marketing for the farm. Lee has a background in accounting but returned to school to learn agriculture and now cultivates crops at the farm.

At Berry Good Farm, the couple grows blueberries without the use of pesticides making it possible to eat the berries straight off the vine.

“The berries don’t go through a long distribution process and the Anseong Cheon stream close by ensure their sweet taste,” Lee said. I sampled some of their offerings and it tasted really different from the blueberries I get from the grocery store.

June and July are the best times to visit Berry Good Farm for picking your own blueberries. No reservations are required, and U-pick is available from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and open until July 15 this year. The farm provides a basket for picking. There is no admission to the farm, so bring your hat and go for a walk to enjoy the farm. U-pick is 20,000 won ($17.67) per kilo or you can pick up freshly-picked berries for 20,000 won (small size).
