June is one of the best times to travel around Korea. The weather is warm without the peak summer humidity, flowers are in full bloom, and festival season begins across the country.
If you’re looking to get out of Busan for a weekend trip, here are some festivals worth adding to your calendar.
Dates: May 30 – June 6, 2026
Location: Namdaecheon Stream and downtown areas, Gangneung, Gangwon Province
One of Korea’s oldest traditional festivals, the Gangneung Danoje Festival has a history of more than 1,000 years and is recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage event. Visitors can watch traditional mask performances, folk games, shamanic rituals, and cultural demonstrations while experiencing a side of Korea many travelers rarely see.
Dates: June 6 – 7, 2026
Location: Banpo Hangang Park, Seoul
For something more traditional, the Seoul Gugak Festival offers modern interpretations of Korean traditional music. Along with live performances, visitors can enjoy cultural experiences and interactive programs along the Han River.
Dates: June 13 – 15, 2026
Location: Jeongok Port, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province
This waterfront festival focuses on marine activities, boating experiences, water sports, food vendors, and family-friendly entertainment. It is a good choice for travelers looking for a coastal event without heading all the way to the south coast.
Dates: May 23 – June 30, 2026
Location: Herb Island, Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province
If you’re looking for a quieter trip, the Lavender & Daisy Festival offers colorful flower fields, seasonal desserts, photo zones, and countryside scenery. The blooming lavender fields make it one of the most photographed destinations in Korea during early summer.
Dates: June 14, 2026
Location: Ttukseom Hangang Park, Seoul
Unlike traditional triathlons, this event welcomes participants of all levels. Visitors can run, cycle, or swim at their own pace while enjoying one of Seoul’s largest outdoor fitness festivals along the Han River.
Dates: June 11 – 14, 2026
Location: Namhae Exile Literature Museum Area, Namhae, Gyeongnam Province
Food lovers may want to head to Namhae for one of the region’s signature festivals. Fresh garlic, premium Korean beef, local specialties, live performances, and tasting events make it one of the most popular food festivals in southern Korea during June.
Dates: June 18 – 28, 2026
Location: Wolasan Forest of Jinju, Jinju, Gyeongnam Province
Held among colorful hydrangea blooms, this festival combines flower displays with cultural performances, walking trails, food vendors, and hands-on activities. It is one of the best flower festivals to visit in Korea during June.
Dates: June 27 – 28, 2026
Location: Olympic Park, Seoul
This popular outdoor music festival combines live performances with a relaxed picnic atmosphere. Expect a mix of K-pop, indie, acoustic, and R&B artists performing across multiple stages. It is one of Seoul’s biggest early summer music events and a favorite among younger audiences.
Whether you’re interested in traditional culture, live music, flowers, outdoor activities, or local food, June offers plenty of reasons to explore beyond Busan.
