French National Orchestra to perform at Busan Concert Hall Sept. 20

The Orchestre national de Metz Grand Est will perform at the Busan Concert Hall on September 20 as part of celebrations marking the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France.

The concert begins at 3 p.m. and will feature a program devoted to major French composers, including Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel and Camille Saint-Saëns.

David Reiland, former artistic director and principal conductor of the Korean National Symphony Orchestra, will lead the performance.

French organist Lucile Dollat will also join the orchestra, giving audiences a chance to hear the Busan Concert Hall’s pipe organ alongside a full symphony orchestra.

The program includes Debussy’s La Mer, Ravel’s La Valse and Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 3 in C minor, commonly known as the “Organ Symphony.”

Based in Metz in eastern France, the Orchestre national de Metz Grand Est was officially granted national orchestra status by the French Ministry of Culture in 2022.

Dollat has served as an organ artist-in-residence at the Radio France Auditorium in Paris since 2022 and previously won the Grand Prix and Audience Prize at the André Marchal–Gaston Litaize International Organ Competition in 2017.
