Full-scale operation of the Busan Sports Science Center begins

The city of Busan City and the Busan Sports Association will hold the “Busan Sports Science Center Opening Ceremony” on the 1st floor of the Busan Metropolitan City Sports Center at 4:00 pm on the 9th and begin full-scale operation.

About 230 people, including Byeong-yoon Ahn, Mayor of Busan City Administration, Seong-Min Ahn, Chairman of City Council, In-Hwa In-Hwa, President of Busan Sports Council, presidents of each member sport group, presidents of 16 district and county sports associations, sports association executives, university professors, and coaches, will attend the event.

The Busan Sports Science Center is a facility operated for the purpose of discovering excellent athletes and strengthening professional sports through systematic and scientific support for athletes in the region.

Through mutual cooperation between the city of Busan and the City Sports Association, it is selected for the regional sports science center operator selection project promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and receives approximately KRW 580 million in specialized equipment and KRW 330 million in operating budget support each year.

The center is equipped with 29 types of state-of-the-art equipment such as exercise load tests, isokinetic muscle joint tests, lactate analysis, image analysis, and professional personnel such as doctoral-level researchers, measurement personnel, and professional trainers in fields such as sports physiology, mechanics, psychology, and measurement.

In addition, professional services such as measurement and analysis of athletic ability and scientific physical fitness analysis, personalized exercise prescriptions, and psychological tests will be provided to local athletes, and field-oriented sports science classes will be operated with coaches, players, and parents. 

The Busan Sports Science Center operates a sports health care center for the first time in the country to improve athletic performance and support the early return of injured athletes through customized prescriptions using sports science.
