Geoje Botanical Garden has introduced new observation elevators at its Jungle Dome and Jungle Tower, improving access to elevated viewing areas that were previously difficult to reach.
The additions are part of a broader effort to create a more inclusive visitor environment under Korea’s “open tourism” initiative, which aims to make attractions accessible to all, including people with disabilities, elderly visitors, and families with young children.
Both elevators are designed with glass walls on all sides, allowing visitors to take in views of the garden and surrounding landscape while moving between levels. The Jungle Dome elevator has a capacity of 18 people and reaches a height of 12 meters across three floors, while the Jungle Tower elevator accommodates 15 people and extends up to 23.8 meters over five levels.
The facilities are wheelchair accessible, reflecting a focus on barrier free design. Officials say the changes have improved visitor flow and made it easier for more people to experience the garden’s indoor tropical environment and panoramic viewpoints.
The project was completed in February following construction that began in 2025. With improved access now in place, the garden is expected to expand its programs with additional interactive and educational content in the future.
