Geoje City will host the “Geoje Maengjong Bamboo Festival” from April 24 to 26 at the Geoje Maengjong Bamboo Theme Park.

The festival is timed to coincide with the emergence of bamboo shoots, offering visitors a range of hands-on and family-friendly activities.

Programs include bamboo shoot peeling experiences, tastings of dishes made with fresh shoots, forest bathing walks through bamboo groves, and treasure hunt events.

The theme park spans approximately 102,000 square meters and is home to around 30,000 bamboo trees.

Maengjong bamboo, known for its size, typically 10 to 20 meters tall and about 20 centimeters in diameter, is the thickest among bamboo species and is often used for items such as pen holders.

Geoje produces more than 80% of the country’s Maengjong bamboo, making the festival a showcase of one of the region’s signature natural resources.
