Gijang Anchovy Festival
Date: Until April 22
Location: Areas of Daebyeonhang Port in Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun
Busan’s beautiful port city of Daebyeonhang Port sees the richest harvest of anchovies in Korea, especially in the months of April and May, therefore holds the Busan Gijang Anchovy Festival during this period. Daebyeonghang Port is also the film location for the 2001 box office hit movie featuring Jang Dong Gun and Yu Osung. The scene where Jang Dong Gun reminisces about his childhood memory of swimming in the ocean near a lighthouse while smoking a cigarette was filmed at this very location. The beautiful clear sea decorated with a lighthouse is not only popular during the Anchovy Festival, but is also a popular tourist attraction all year round.

Sinan Tulip Festival
Date: Until April 22
Location: Sinan Tulip Park
Sinan Tulip Festival is held annually at Tulip Park and along the shore of Daegwang Beach in Sinan-gun, the tulip capital of Korea. Every year, the festival showcases up to 3 million tulips and presents various exciting events across the town, which was selected as the best place to grow tulips.
From Gwangju: Take an intercity bus to Gwangju U-Square Bus Terminal. Transfer to another intercity bus bound for 지도(Jido), and get off at Jido Jeomam Dock.
From Mokpo: Take an intercity bus to Mokpo Intercity Bus Terminal. Transfer to another intercity bus bound for 지도(Jido), and get off at Jido Jeomam Dock.
From Jeomam Dock Take a passenger ferry from Jeomam Dock to Imja Dock. Transfer to a shuttle bus to arrive at the festival venue.

Gunpo Royal Azalea Festival
Date: April 27 - 29
Location: Royal Azalea Hill, Royal Azalea Park, Citizen Square Gymnasium, Arts and Culture Center, Nocha Road, etc.
Introduction: City of Gunpo, filled with charming pink azaleas, will overwhelm the viewers' hearts with excitement. The annual festival will hold memorable events and entertainment for visitors to enjoy.

Asan Great Admiral Yi-Sun-Sin Festival
Date: April 27 - April 29
Location: Onyang Oncheon Station Plaza & Downtown area
The Asan Great Admiral Yi Sun-Sin Festival celebrates one of Korea’s most famous war heroes, Yi Sun-Sin, who defeated the Japanese in a momentous naval battle around 460 years ago. The festival takes place in the period around the Admiral’s birth date on April 28 in order to commemorate his achievements. Events at the festival will include a reenactment of the parade when Yi Sun-Sin took his sailors off to war and displays featuring detailed reproductions of the famous turtle-shaped ships (Geobukseon, 'Turtle Ship'), which were used in the battle.

Gaya Culture Festival

Location: Areas of Gimhae (Daesongdong Ancient Tombs, Sureungwon Garden, Haebancheon Stream, Gaya Street)
The Gaya Culture Festival is a historical and cultural festival of Gimhae-si, whose long history and tradition is based on the Geumgwan Gaya, a leading power among the six
Gaya groups. King Kim Suro founded Gaya in A.D. 42 and married Heo Hwang-ok, a princess from the Indian country of Ayuta, in A.D. 48. This was the first known international marriage in the history of the Korean Peninsula. Gaya was quite advanced in the production of earthenware and iron implements, and traded with neighboring countries like China, Nakrang, and Japan. It thrived as a center of international exchange in Northeast Asia, and its culture was also remarkably developed. Gimhae, the birthplace of the Gaya culture, has a long history and unique culture. Through the Gaya Culture Festival, the region is continuing to preserve, build on, and develop the Gaya culture and heritage. The Gaya Culture Festival asserts Gaya’s rightful place alongside the Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla kingdoms.
Take a bus from Seoul Express Bus Terminal bound to Gimhae Bus Terminal. Upon getting off from the bus, cross the main road and walk straight towards to the Gimhae Library. Then make left turn and continue walking for about 554m. The venue (Daesong-dong Ancient Tombs) will be on your right.
From Gimhae Bus Terminal, take a taxi to Daesong-dong Ancient Tombs or Sureungwon area (5min).
Get off at Museum Station (Busan Gimhae Light Rail), Exit 2. Walk for about 37m to reach the cross road and continue walking until to reach at Gaya four-way street. Following the Gaya-gil street, walk for about 168m to reach the destination.

Ulsan Onggi Festival
Date: May 3 - May 7
Location: Oegosan Onggi Village area, Onyang-eup, Ulju-gun, Ulsan-si
During the festival, visitors can learn how to make their own pottery under the guide of potter masters. Also, National Pottery Making Contest will be held as a main event as well as dynamic programs like nostalgic concert, tightrope walking, performances and exhibition events. Everywhere in the village are pottery-sculptures that gives suitable photo spots for taking pictures within a Korean folk ambience scene.
Across from Ulsan Express Bus Terminal, take Bus 507 or 715. Get off at Gosan Village Bus Stop. (Gosan Maeul)

Taean Tulip Festival
Date: April 19 - May 13
Location: Kkotji Beach
Taean World Tulip Festival is chosen as one of the top 5 tulip festivals in 2017, following the WTS (World Tulip Summit) in 2015. The festival also brings to mind the glory of International Flower Exhibition in Anmyeondo Island in 2002 and 2009. This year’s festival venue has moved from the previous Nature World to Kkotji Ocean Park, where International Flower Exhibition in Anmyeondo Island was previously held. The ocean and sandy beach as well as millions of tulips are welcoming all visitors.
From Dong Seoul Bus Terminal, take an intercity bus to Taean. From Taean Intercity Bus Terminal, take a village bus bound for Gomseom and get off at Morenon Bus Stop. (Estimated travel time: about 1-hour)

Hampyeong Butterfly Festival

Location: Hampyeong Expo Park area, ecological wetland, Hwayang Neighborhood Park
The Hampyeong Butterfly Festival offers visitors the opportunity to get a closer look at ecology, in particular the region’s butterflies. The theme of the festival is “Follow the butterflies through beautiful roads to Hampyeong”. The festival is full of various hands-on programs, exhibitions and performances themed on butterflies, flowers and insects.
From Central City Bus Terminal, take a bus to Hampyeong (approx. 4hr 20min).
From Hampyeong Bus Terminal, go 200m towards the Court Office. - Turn right at the 3-way intersection, and go 100m further.
- Follow the signs for Hampyeong Expo Park.

Mungyeong Traditional Chasabal Festival
Date: April 28- May 7
Location: Mungyeongsaejae Open Set area
Introduction: Mungyeong Traditional Chasabal Festival takes place at Mungyeongsaejae Open Set in Gyeongsangbuk-do, an area famous for traditional ceramics. The festival was first started in 1999 and has gone on to become an outstanding festival recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism. Visitors will be able to join in traditional
tea ceremony and pottery-making programs, operated by local artisans.
Take a bus from Dong Seoul Bus Terminal to Mungyeong Bus Terminal.
Take a bus bound for Mungyeong Saejae and get off at Mungyeong Saejae Bus Stop.

Damyang Bamboo Festival
Date: May 2 - May 7
Location: 119, Jungnogwon-ro, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do
Located within a forest of 2.4 kilometers of bamboo, this festival is full of activities celebrating the beauty and function of the bamboo plant. More active visitors can test their skills during some of the festival’s scheduled river sports, such as ‘Log Rafting’ and ‘Water Bicycling’. After working up an appetite, visitors can please their palate with some of Damyang’s famous cuisines and other world foods featured at the Cultural Experience Center. For additional sightseeing opportunities, visit some of the other attractions in the area, such as the Damyang Soswaewon, Damyang Gwanbangjerim, Damyang Jungnogwon, Metasequoia, and more.
From Yongsan Station, take a train to Gwangju.

From Central City Bus Terminal (Seoul), take an express bus to Damyang.
- From Damyang Bus Terminal, cross the road and take a Bongsan-Damyang route bus.
- Get off at the Juknokwon Bus Stop, and cross the road.

Cheongsando Slow Walking Festival

Location: Slow City Cheongsando area, Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do
Designated as the first Slow City in Asia, Cheongsando in Wando-gun hosts the annual Cheongsando Slow Walking Festival. The festival is held every April, which is the best time of the year to enjoy the canola blossoms and barley with the sea in the background. During the festival, visitors can participate in various cultural events and exhibitions,
and enjoy the spring scenery.
To Cheongsando Island Take an epxress/intercity bus to Wando Bus Terminal. Take a taxi from Wando Bus Terminal to Wando Passenger Ferry Terminal.

International Horticulture Goyang Korea

Location: Ilsan Lake Park in Goyang
First held in 1997, International Horticulture Goyang Korea, an international flower exhibition, has attracted over 6.2 million visitors so far. The event is considered to be Korea’s representative international flower exhibition. The festival takes place at Ilsan Lake Park in Goyang from April to May with nearly 300 related organizations, groups, and companies from 25 countries showcasing flowers and various products made with flowers. Also, unique and rare plants exhibition, indoor garden decorated with flower art pieces, outdoor theme parks, making of flower plant experience, flower arrangement contests and other cultural events and performances are planned to add more joy to the flower festival. At night, lighting garden, LED performance, K-POP performance and other exciting events will also entertain visitors, creating the ambience of a joyful flower

Gochang Green Barley Field Festival

Location: Hagwon Tourism Farm area
The Gochang Green Barley Field Festival is held every year in late April among the beautiful green barley fields of Gochang-gun. It is the region’s most popular festival. The festival celebrates the plentiful barley grown here, and visitors can take part in activities such as making flutes out of barley and searching for hidden treasures in the barley fields. A visit to the festival is also a good opportunity to see Seonunsan Provincial Park and Gochangeupseong Fortress.

Herb Island Light Festival - Lighting & Illumination

Location: Pocheon Herb Island
Herb Island Lighting & Illumination Fesitval features a romantic ambience created by splendid lightings. It is comprised of a pink wish tunnel, sparkling buildings, Santa Village, photo zone and other twinkling places for visitors to enjoy.
Take an express bus to Pocheon Intercity Bus Terminal.
Take Bus No. 57 bound for Sinbuk Oncheon (Sinbuk Hot spring) at the local bus stop outside the bus terminal.
Get off at Samjeong-ri and go straight on Samcheongol-gil Street to arrive at Herb Island.
