Families looking to cool off this summer will soon have more options as Gimhae City began opening its public splash parks and ground fountains from June 27.

Its seasonal water play facilities will open in stages after completing safety inspections and maintenance ahead of the busy summer season.

Preparations, which began in February, included repairing or replacing aging equipment and strengthening safety features such as drain covers and access ladders.

Ground fountains will operate through August 31, while dedicated water playgrounds will open on July 1 and remain in operation until August 31.

Both facilities will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., following a schedule of 40 minutes of operation followed by a 20-minute break. Water playgrounds will also close for a lunch break between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

To maintain water quality and ensure visitor safety, each facility will close one designated day each week for cleaning and inspections.

Additional closures may occur during severe weather, including heavy rain or typhoons.
