Seoul has announced its vision of becoming a global performing arts hub with the official opening of the 2025 Seoul Autumn Festa on October 4 at Seoul Plaza.

The city, together with the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, will launch the month-long festival under the theme “A Seoul Full of Performing Arts,” highlighting opera, ballet, plays, traditional music, and fusion performances .

The Seoul Autumn Festa, running through November 12, completes the city’s year-round seasonal festival brand: Spring Festa, Summer Han River sports festivals, Autumn Festa, and Winter Festa.

This edition will feature over 110 works across genres such as theater, dance, and music, staged throughout Seoul .

The opening ceremony will include performances by the Seoul Children’s Guard Band and the Seoul Youth Choir, followed by showcases such as Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro by Noble Art Opera Company, GAT by Yoon Byul Ballet Company, the reading play Forever Farewell, Farewell by actress Park Jeong-ja, and True Colors, Korean Sounds by pansori singers Yu Taepyungyang and Kim Su-in. A declaration ceremony will also be held, formally proclaiming Seoul as a “Performing Arts Capital” .

Additional programs include citizen participation activities at Seoul Plaza, such as “Connecting Everyone through Performing Arts” and “The Autumn We Create,” where visitors can contribute to collaborative art installations.

During the Chuseok holiday (October 6–8), Cheonggyecheon will host Artrekking, a walking performance festival commemorating its 20th restoration anniversary.
