The 2025 Gyeongnam Goseong Dinosaur World Expo opened October 1 at the Danghangpo Tourist Complex, running 40 days through November 9.
This year’s theme “Dance with Dinosaurs” adds new large-scale spectacles and interactive programs following final site inspections this week.
A 10-meter-tall, 20-meter-long “Flowersaurus” made of blooms debuts as a park landmark and photo spot.
The expo also introduces Korea’s first “Pterosaur Show,” with three 3.5-meter models swooping above Danghangpo to orchestral soundtracks, designed to evoke the flight of Cretaceous reptiles.
Visitor facilities have been overhauled: the special exhibition hall is now a character zone where children step into animated story settings, while the 4D and 5D theaters feature updated visuals depicting the dinosaur era.
This year’s parade shifts format, unfolding in five acts that mix pop-musical group choreography, audience cheer routines, fire performance, and hip-hop dance.
Exhibits and activations throughout the grounds include live “feeding” set-pieces, “working” animatronic dinosaurs, authentic fossils, and new installations such as two large robots built from scrap materials and a seaplane display.
Nighttime programming expands as well: fireworks are scheduled every Saturday during the run and on Chuseok holiday evenings, aiming to frame the coastal venue with autumn night views.
Organizers say the additions are intended to refresh a long-running regional event while keeping its core focus on hands-on paleontology and family-friendly entertainment.
