Gyeongnam Arboretum is launching a two-week family festival from May 2 to 16 to celebrate Family Month, offering a mix of traditional games, live performances, flower giveaways, and outdoor cultural events.

Hosted across the arboretum’s lawn garden area, the seasonal program is designed to give visitors of all ages a chance to spend time outdoors with hands-on activities spread throughout the first half of May.

From May 2 to 5, excluding the regular closure on May 4, guests can take part in traditional Korean play experiences including bamboo ring toss, Korean paper shuttlecock games, and simple craft-making activities such as handmade ttakji and toy cup games.

A children’s bubble show will also be staged on May 2 as one of the opening highlights.

Later in the month, the arboretum’s Rose Day event on May 14 will offer free fresh roses to the first 100 visitors at the fragrance garden, while May 16 brings a spring picnic-style busking concert titled “Green in May,” featuring performances by local music enthusiasts.

Organizers say the event is intended to turn the arboretum into a relaxed multigenerational outing spot during one of Korea’s busiest family travel periods, combining nature walks with small-scale entertainment and seasonal floral experiences.
