Geochang Mirinae Forest Campground and Namhae Deoksin Campground in Hallyeohaesang National Park were selected as part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s “2025 Outstanding Public Campgrounds” program.

The nationwide competition, organized by the Korea Tourism Organization, evaluated sites in four categories: family-friendly, eco-friendly, accessible for people with disabilities, and pet-friendly.

After document reviews and on-site inspections, a total of 15 campgrounds were chosen, with Gyeongnam’s two entries standing out among strong national competition.

Geochang’s Mirinae Forest Campground earned recognition in the “family-friendly” category. Nestled in the pristine natural surroundings of Mount Namdeogyu and the Wolseong Valley, it offers diverse family programs such as telescope assembly workshops, stargazing sessions, and zipline experiences. The site’s popularity is reflected online, where related posts have surpassed 1.4 million views.

Namhae’s Deoksin Campground received a double honor, being recognized in both the “eco-friendly” and “family-friendly” categories. The site, which was creatively developed from a closed elementary school, has been praised as a model for sustainable campground design. Its features include a “Memory Classroom,” an upcycled playground, and solar-powered parking areas — all built while preserving the natural terrain.

Both campgrounds will receive plaques designating them as official outstanding sites and will benefit from nationwide promotion on the Go Camping website and social media channels.
