Gyeongnam province is launching a new tourism collaboration project that brings together eight tourism companies to develop innovative travel experiences tailored to the region.
Organized by the Gyeongnam Tourism Foundation’s Tourism Business Support Center, the initiative selected four collaborative teams through a public competition.
Each team will receive 20 million won in funding, along with expert consulting, mentoring, and support from local governments.
The selected projects combine local resources with creative tourism concepts. One team will create an augmented reality tour of Jinju Fortress, allowing visitors to complete interactive missions at landmarks such as Chokseongnu Pavilion and Uiam Rock using AR glasses.
Another project will transform idle spaces in Geoje’s Okgye Village into a two-night, three-day dating audition program that encourages interaction between younger visitors and local seniors.
Additional projects include a stay-and-dine festival centered on local cuisine and unused community spaces, as well as a storytelling tea tour inspired by the lives of fishermen and artists in Tongyeong.
The province hopes the program will strengthen cooperation among tourism businesses while creating unique tourism products that showcase the culture, history, and character of communities across Gyeongnam.
