The 10th Hadong Seomjin River Clam Festival will take place from June 12 to 14 at Hadong Songnim Park and along the Seomjin River, with organizers expanding the event into a larger stay-oriented festival combining food, performances and hands-on activities.
Held under the slogan “Hadong in Your Hands,” this year’s festival will highlight the traditional hand-raking clam fishing method of the Seomjin River, recognized as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System.
Festival organizers said the 10th anniversary edition will introduce a wide range of new programs aimed at encouraging visitors to spend more time exploring Hadong.
New food-focused events include a clam cooking competition, a live cooking show featuring chef Kim Do-yoon, and a special culinary zone called “Grand Cru Hadong,” where visitors can sample dishes and new recipes made with local freshwater clams.
Interactive activities will include clam-themed mission games, beach mini soccer tournaments, sand therapy, singing bowl yoga and meditation sessions, cultural walking tours and craft workshops.
Family-friendly programs such as the “Hello Carbot” singalong show, children’s musicals, arts and crafts activities and water play events will also be offered throughout the festival.
Additional entertainment will include the Clam Dance Festival, K-taekwondo performances, a riverside chicken and beer festival, outdoor movie screenings and a laser music fountain show.
One of the festival’s signature events, “Find the Golden Clam,” will return with expanded prizes, including 50 gold prizes valued at 300,000 won each and 100 clam soup gift sets.
