An open-air production of La Traviata will be staged along the Han River on May 22–23, offering a large-scale opera performance at Yeouido Hangang Park.

Organized by Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, the performances will take place at the park’s waterside stage, combining the natural riverside setting with an Art Nouveau-inspired design.

The production continues the center’s series of outdoor operas, following previous stagings of Carmen, Cavalleria Rusticana, and The Magic Flute.

The opera, originally composed by Giuseppe Verdi, will be conducted by David Yi and directed by Lee Hoesu.

The cast includes soprano Lee Hye-jung and Park So-young as Violetta, tenor Jung Ho-yoon and Kim Min-seok as Alfredo, and baritone Kong Byung-woo and Kim Ki-hoon as Germont.

A unique addition to the production will feature a real-life doctor appearing in the role of Dr. Grenvil.

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on both evenings, and admission will be free with advance reservation. In case of rain, the schedule may be adjusted.
