The Hansung Baekje Museum has begun a three-month pilot operation of a new “Seoul-Style Kids Café” inside the Seoul Baekje Children’s Museum, a dedicated cultural play space designed for infants aged 0–3 and their families.
Open through March, the space provides a safe indoor play environment for babies while offering caregivers an area to rest and participate alongside their children. Admission is free for families visiting with infants.
Unlike the museum’s existing children’s exhibitions, which mainly target ages 6–10, the new zone focuses on early-stage physical development, imagination, and sensory play, expanding cultural access for families with infants and toddlers.
Inspired by imagery from Baekje culture, the interior features soft, cube-based play structures and tactile elements that encourage natural movement and exploration. The design reinterprets motifs such as the Baekje Gilt-Bronze Incense Burner, creating a fantasy-like atmosphere that blends aesthetics with interactive learning. A variety of Rubik’s-style cube installations and warm, European-tone colors are intended to support balance, curiosity, and early cognitive growth.
The pilot space, which opened on December 26, will operate flexibly in connection with the museum’s exhibitions, classes, and family programs, evolving into a broader cultural hub rather than a simple playroom.
Visitor feedback collected during the trial period will be used to refine facilities and programming ahead of the official opening planned for May.
