The first heat wave advisory of the year has been issued for parts of Busan as temperatures and humidity continue to rise across the region.

According to the Busan Regional Meteorological Administration, a heat wave advisory took effect at 11 a.m. on July 6 for western Busan, including the districts of Gangseo, Saha, Seo, Jung, Dong, and Yeongdo.

The advisory is issued when the daily maximum perceived temperature is expected to reach at least 33°C for two or more consecutive days. This year’s first advisory comes nine days later than in 2025.

The advisory was also issued for eastern Ulsan and parts of Gyeongnam, including Yangsan, Uiryeong, and central Hapcheon, with additional areas such as Miryang and Changnyeong added later in the afternoon.

Daytime temperatures climbed further yesterday, with forecast highs of 30°C in Busan, 32°C in Ulsan, and between 28°C and 33°C across Gyeongnam.

Temperatures are expected to be 2°C to 5°C above seasonal averages.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said perceived temperatures are likely to remain above 31°C in many areas over the coming days, while locations under a heat wave advisory could see perceived temperatures exceed 33°C.

Residents are advised to take precautions against heat-related illnesses, stay hydrated, avoid prolonged outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, and practice proper food safety as temperatures continue to rise.
