Hyundai Department Store is set to open a series of pop up stores in major tourist areas, beginning with Busan, as part of a broader effort to reach visitors outside traditional retail spaces.
The first pop up will take place at the Gwangalli Ocean Lesports Center near Samick Beach Apartments from March 21 to April 12.
The pop up will focus on a spring theme, combining seasonal elements with character based merchandise developed in collaboration with an IP content company. The location was selected due to its proximity to the beach and nearby cherry blossom areas, which attract large numbers of visitors during this period.
The initiative reflects a shift toward meeting visitors within existing travel routes rather than relying solely on in store experiences. By placing pop up content in outdoor and high traffic areas, the company is testing new ways to connect retail with tourism patterns while maintaining a limited overlap with surrounding local businesses.
A second location will follow in Gyeongju’s Hwangridan gil from April 30 to May 17 and will feature a different concept centered on globally recognized characters, set within one of the city’s busiest tourist districts.
