Jinju in South Korea breaks ground on Namgang Riverside Multi-Purpose Culture Center

Jinju City has officially begun construction on the Namgang Riverside Multi-Purpose Culture Center, a major cultural infrastructure project expected to become a new landmark for the city when completed in 2028.
The center is designed to expand creative opportunities for local artists while offering residents greater access to high-quality cultural experiences.
Once completed, it is expected to serve as a key cultural hub that enhances everyday cultural life in Jinju.
Built on a 7,412㎡ site with a total floor area of 13,777㎡, the facility will span one basement level and four above-ground floors.
It will house performance halls, exhibition spaces, experience-based facilities, and community areas within a single integrated complex.
The project carries a total budget of 89 billion won, with completion targeted for December 2028.
The site itself holds deep historical significance, located along the Namgang River where key battles of the Imjin War took place. It overlooks major landmarks such as Jinju Fortress, Chokseokru Pavilion, and Uiam Rock, closely tying the new center to the city’s identity and heritage.
Linked with nearby attractions including the Namgang Lantern Exhibition Hall, Railway Culture Park, and river cruises, the project is expected to help form a broader culture-and-tourism corridor along the Namgang, contributing to local economic revitalization.
