Jinju’s popular Olppam Saturday Night Market will temporarily close during the hottest weeks of summer, with operations set to resume on August 15 following upgrades to facilities and programming.

The Jinju Commercial District Revitalization Foundation said the market, located beneath the arcade section of Nongae Market, will pause operations from July through early August to help prevent heat-related safety issues during the peak summer season.

Held every Saturday evening, the market regularly attracts more than 2,000 visitors, making it one of Jinju’s best-known nighttime attractions. Visitors can enjoy a variety of street food, including yukjeon (Korean beef pancakes), grilled giant squid skewers, and banh trang (Vietnamese pizza), along with entertainment such as busking performances, stopwatch challenges, and public karaoke events.

During the temporary closure, organizers will carry out maintenance work and prepare new food vendors and cultural programs ahead of the market’s reopening.

When the night market returns on August 15, visitors can expect expanded food offerings, refreshed facilities, and additional entertainment designed to enhance the overall experience.
