Jinju has announced the reopening of its newly upgraded nightscape lighting at Saebyeori, one of the main gateways to the city, following extensive maintenance and design improvements.

The project follows the completion of steep-slope reinforcement work in January.

The city has now finished reinstalling the “Saebyeori Nightscape Lighting,” which had been temporarily removed during construction.

After a trial run ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, full-scale operations will resume in March.

Saebyeori is counted among the “Eight Scenic Views of Jinju” and is known for its natural beauty during the daytime.

However, due to the area’s terrain, where deep shadows form at night, appreciating the landscape after dark had long been a challenge.

To address this, the city invested 460 million won in 2022 to install landscape lighting, creating a new nighttime attraction for residents and visitors.

Operations were suspended in October last year when slope stabilization work began to improve pedestrian and vehicle safety along the route.

With the completion of the safety upgrades, the city carried out a comprehensive overhaul of aging lighting facilities whose visual effects had diminished over time.

The redesigned installation now complements the dramatic natural terrain newly revealed through the slope improvement project, resulting in a more refined and cohesive nighttime presentation.

In particular, Jinju conducted a special trial operation during the Lunar New Year holiday to offer returning residents and tourists an enhanced night view experience.

Feedback gathered during the pilot phase was reflected in adjustments to lighting effects and fine-tuning of details, ensuring a higher level of overall quality for the official relaunch.
