With this year’s Chuseok holiday stretching into a rare ten-day golden week for some, Busan is offering a wealth of performances, exhibitions, and family programs.
From traditional performances to interactive art festivals, here are some of the highlights by date.
October 3–7: Bokcheon Museum Special event linked to the exhibition Glass Beads, Threading Time. Visitors can join “Make Your Own Jewelry” workshops and participate in an exhibition certification event.
October 4–7: Jeonggwan Museum “Full Moon Playground” with traditional games, making traditional gat keyrings, and the “Full Moon Lion Boys” program, blending K-pop themes with heritage costumes.
October 5: Sea Art Festival Workshop by Mathias Kessler & Ahmet Civelek on weaving carpets with recycled materials.
October 6: National Gugak Center (Busan) Holiday event Dalnori with traditional performances for families.
October 6: National Maritime Museum of Korea Hanbok Feeding Show at 11:40 a.m. in the aquarium, plus ongoing folk games and clown photo sessions throughout the holiday period.
October 6–7: Jeonggwan Museum Traditional games festival continues with yutnori, tuho, and jegichagi.
October 8: Sea Art Festival Workshop with Omija’s artwork Rolling Balls followed by a “Seed-Rolling Competition.”
October 8–9: Family Musical – Egg Doctor: Secret of the Pirate Treasure Island (BEXCO Auditorium) Popular YouTube channel creators Egg Doctor perform live for families.

Busan Museum – Full Moon Hunters
Period & Hours: Saturday, October 4 – Monday, October 6, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Venue: Busan Museum Front Yard
Highlights: Participants can join “Hunting the Full Moon” by searching for hidden moon fragments in the exhibition halls and receive an ornamental knot keyring (limited to the first 50 participants per day). Visitors can also try on traditional costumes and take photos at photo zones featuring Irworobongdo and a giant moon sculpture. Outdoor folk games include Yutnori (board game), Gulleongsoe (hoop rolling), Tuho (arrow throwing), and Paengi (spinning tops). Contact: Busan Museum 051-610-7185
Jeonggwan Museum – Chuseok Folk Game Festival
Period & Hours: Saturday, October 4 – Tuesday, October 7, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Venue: Jeonggwan Museum Yard
Highlights: Visitors can play traditional folk games such as Yutnori (board game), Tuho (arrow throwing), and Jegichagi (shuttlecock kicking).
National Maritime Museum of Korea – Chuseok Event Period: Friday, October 3 – Thursday, October 9
Venue: National Maritime Museum of Korea
Highlights:
Folk Games: October 3–9, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., in front of the Auditorium (1F). Games include Jegichagi (shuttlecock kicking), Yutnori (board game), Tuho (arrow throwing), and Gongginori (jackstones).
Hanbok Feeding Show: October 6, 11:40 a.m. – 11:55 a.m., Aquarium (3F). A diver in Hanbok performs a feeding show and New Year’s bow (Sebae).
Photo Time with a Clown: October 3–9, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., on the 1st and 2nd floors. Additional events include movie screenings and Chuseok special performances.

Busan Cultural Sites and Museums – Chuseok Holiday Schedule
Busan Museum, Dongsam-dong Shell Midden Museum, Bokcheon Museum, Jeonggwan Museum, Busan Modern and Contemporary History Museum, Provisional Capital Memorial Hall, and Busan Citizens Park Museum will be open from October 3 to October 9, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and closed on October 10.
Busan Marine Natural History Museum will be open from October 3 to October 9, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (last admission 5:00 p.m.), and closed on October 10.
Busan Museum of Contemporary Art will be open from October 3 to October 9 and closed on October 10. Website: www.busan.go.kr/moca.
Busan Museum of Art has been closed for renovation since December 18, 2023, but Space Lee Ufan remains open from October 3 to October 9 and will be closed on October 10. Website: art.busan.go.kr.
National Maritime Museum of Korea will be open from October 3 to October 9. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on October 3–6 and October 8–9, and 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on October 7. Website: www.mmk.or.kr.

Haeundae Arboretum will be open October 3–5 and October 8–9, and closed October 6–7. Website: Busan Green (Korean).
