Jisimdo Island, known as a “wedding and resort island,” hosted a special ceremony for three elderly couples on November 15, marking the finale of Gyeongsnam’s 2025 Wedding Island program.

Held under the theme of “Hope,” the event celebrated couples who had never had a wedding due to financial or time constraints, or who wished to commemorate their long marriage in a meaningful way.

Against the scenic backdrop of camellia forests, the three couples renewed their vows in a heartfelt ceremony atop the island’s former airstrip, surrounded by views of the sea.

The outdoor event featured a symbolic walk down the flower path, the reading of family letters, and a photo session, followed by a romantic yacht tour reminiscent of a honeymoon.

Jisimdo’s “Hope” ceremony concludes a series of themed weddings held throughout the year: “Welfare” weddings for families with multiple children in September, “Togetherness” weddings for multicultural couples in October, and finally the “Hope” weddings for older couples in November.

Due to the strong public response, the province plans to expand the project next year, hosting similar ceremonies not only on Jisimdo in Geoje but also on Jodo Island in Namhae starting in 2026.
